Driving Motorcycle without License, 25 Students Netted

Not having driving license (SIM), as many as 25 students were netted in a vehicle raid done by North Jakarta Metro Resort Police Traffic Unit, Saturday (5/24). The police netted them when crossing on Jalan Raya Cakung Cilincing, North Jakarta. However, the police did not ticket those students, but only gave them warning letter.

TK (16), a student of Wiyata Mandala Senior High School (SMA) who was netted, admitted that he did not have driving license because his parents allow him to ride motorcycle to school only on Saturday. “I learned my lesson. I will not ride motorcycle again to school,” he said.

According to Chief of Region I Traffic and Smoothness Sub-Unit for North Jakarta Metro Resort Police Traffic Unit, Aiptu Sutopo, as many as 59 bikers were netted. From that amount, 34 bikers were ticketed and 25 bikers, who are students, were given warning letter. “Most of them were netted due to not wearing helmets. As for the students, they do not have driving license,” he told.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Metro Resort Police Traffic Unit Operational Coaching Division, AKP Frida, stated that his party has held Simpatik Operation since Monday (5/19). Since then, as many as 1,200 traffic violations were recorded. “To the students netted, we only gave them warning letter. It is like a ticket, but it is only a reprimand,” she uttered.
