The Transjakarta bus operational plying corridor II (Harmoni-Pulogadung) had to be diverted because of three bus stops in Monas area cannot be operated after bus lanes used as illegal parking by people who want to enjoy the Jakarta Fair.
Head of Public Relation for Transjakarta Technical Unit (UP), Sri Ulina Pinem justified three bus stops in Monas area cannot be used. "This is because many people park their vehicles around Transjakarta bus lanes, thus we divert the bus," she stated, Thursday (6/12).
Basuki to Evaluate Monas Jakarta FairSuch route diversion is imposed from Harmoni bus stop and the bus directed to the left via Pecenongan-Juanda-Pasar Baru-Lapangan Banteng-Kwitang Bus Stop. While for Monas, City Hall, and Gambir 2 bus stops cannot be bypassed. "Indeed, the consequence is some bus stops cannot be operated, thus bus unable to pick up and drop off passenger," she expressed.
Passengers were asked to understand on this condition. If the operational remains enforced, Transjakarta bus service will not run optimally. "They (passengers) can get off at Monas or Gambir 1 bus stops. Both are the nearest bus stop anyway," she said.
According to Pinem, if the bus remains passing such lanes, the bus will stop. If the bus uses the regular lanes, bus cannot stop at City Hall bus stop. This policy is frequently also taken while there is an event around Monas or in front of City Hall. "We just adjust its timing. If the bus cannot operate, we directly take the policy," she explained.
As known, the Monas Jakarta Fair held within 6 days, from June 10-15. Even, residents are enthusiastically visiting the event, thus parking lot provided by committee crowded. No wonder, many of them park vehicle on the sidewalk and the roadside, as well as City Hall bus stop.
The event is free of charge and will be enlivened by 2,780 stands and 80 activities. The amount of visitors is targeting to achieve 500,000 people per day. It is held to entertain Jakartans.
