Public transportation must be rail-based, particularly for train and MRT,” stated Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama, Thursday (6/26).

According to Basuki, Jakarta Provincial Government is also focusing on the ways to connect LRT with small lanes in inner-ring city. Later, it will also be integrated with ports, recreational sites, malls, and offices.

Monorail Could Be Shut Down, City Brings LRT

“If the money is ready, we’ll carry out the project next year,” he asserted.

This former Regent of East Belitung predicts that LRT construction project would spend Rp 50-60 trillion. Such amount is deemed not a problem because the LRT will eventually reach desired destinations of Jakarta residents, including property areas.

“I think that amount is not a problem. If possible, all property areas to be integrated,” he expressed.

Basuki told that the LRT will also be integrated with parking lots.

“We also plan to buy lands or warehouses near stations for park and ride facilities as well as parks for street vendors. Thus, the street vendors can still doing their business there, selling whatever they sell,” uttered Basuki.
