KPU Distributes Presidential Election Logistics

Approaching the 2014 presidential election, Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) has distributed election logistics ranging from ink, ballot boxes, ballots, and voting booths, to the city/regency level. At this time, the KPU is still conducting the sorting ballots, where some ballots broken but its exact number is unknown. Nevertheless, there will be no shortage of ballot.

Jakarta KPU Head, Sumarno disclosed all logistics have been distributed to the regional level. His party is also ready to implement voting in the upcoming presidential election which falls on July 9. All preparations have been prepared well in order to avoid mistake in later.

"We've distributed election logistics, such as ink, ballots, ballot boxes, voting booths. All logistics are enough, but some ballots broken. Its amount is still being recorded," he stated, Saturday (6/28).

Presidential Election, City DPT Increases by 200 Thousand

In Jakarta itself needs ballots in accordance with the amount of final voters list (DPT) which is about 7 million. To anticipate the broken ballots, the printing is added up to 2 percent of the total requirement. After sorting and folding process is completed, the logistic will immediately be distributed to the level of the urban village and sub-district. He will also directly monitor the process to prevent cheating practice.

KPU also coordinates with police to prevent cheating and neutrality. "Police are involved to oversee the process of sorting and folding and secure the presidential election," he told. 

As known, the amount of DPT in Jakarta has increased up to 200,000 people from the implementation of legislative election on April 9, 2014. Totally, there were 7,001,520 voters with 17,045 polling stations (TPS). Then the data verification conducted by re-checking Jakarta residents aged 17 years old in the period April 9 to July 9. "DPT amount increased to 200,000, thus the total reaches 7.2 million people," he explained.
