East Jakarta Short of 4,478 Ballots

Presidential election is seven days to go, yet East Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) is still lacking 4,478 ballots, while 600 other ballots are damaged.

East Jakarta KPU Chairman, Nurdin, said his party knew there are 600 ballots damaged when hundreds of volunteers were sorting and folding the ballots. The damages allegedly happened when the ballots were still in the printing office.
“The damages varied from torn up, no KPPS signature on the back of the ballots, and hole on the pictures of president and vice president candidates as well as on the KPU’s logo. We instantly asked the damaged ballots with new ones,” he stated, Wednesday (7/2).

If the ballots were strike through, the hole can be covered back. But, the fact is that the hole on the ballots is real as caused by paper puncher.
Besides damaged ballots, East Jakarta KPU is also short of 4,478 ballots. From 1,983,545 ballots they should have received, there are only 1,979,067 ballots exist. The shortage happened in all cardboards which each contains 2,000 ballots, but lacking of 2-10 ballots.
“Now we’re still waiting for ballots shortage supply from central KPU. We proposed for 6,621 ballots,” he told.
For information, the amount of fix voters list (DPT) in East Jakarta in this 2014 presidential election is 1,943,098 voters. The number increases from legislative election which only 1,914,790 voters. Not only that, the amount of voting booth (TPS) is also increasing from 3,226 booths to 4,675 booths.
The increase in voter amount happens because there is an increase of residents whose age now 17 years old. Moreover, there are also many flat occupants and college students who registered late in the legislative election, on April 9 ago, and used the A5 form. But now, they are all have been listed in DPT for presidential election.
