586 Joint Personnel Deployed to Secure Ragunan Zoo

As many as hundreds of police officers are deployed to the Ragunan Zoo (TMR) in order to optimize security and safety for visitors. They will be spread in 14 crime prone-areas in the zoo.

There are 324 police officers, while the rest are security officers and volunteers from local residents

"The 14 areas are prone to pickpocketing and missing children in Ragunan Zoo," said Chief of Pasar Minggu Sector Police, Sr. Comr. Adri Desas Furyanto, Tuesday (7/29).

Those crime prone-areas are located in the north door, west door, compost door, south door, east door, around Information Post, around health post, bird cage, snake cage, waiting train place, around doll sales, elephant cage, gorilla cage, and boat rentals.

Furyanto disclosed that he is going to deploy 586 joint personnel. They consist of police, security officers, and volunteers. "There are 324 police officers, while the rest are security officers and volunteers from local residents," he told.

For the visitors, he furthered, are urged not to carry valuables excessively. "It can provoke a crime," he assserted.

Until 1 PM, the number of visitors is reaching 95,000 people. It would keep increasing until ticket counter closed at 4 PM.

Yulia, (36), one of visitors expressed she prefers to visit the Ragunan Zoo due to affordable ticket price. "Ticket price is affordable. I come here with my children, relatives, and nephews," told Yulia, a resident of Matraman, East Jakarta.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, traffic on Jalan RM Harsono from and toward Ragunan Zoo is dense. Thus traffi congestion cannot be avoided.
