PT LRT Jakarta Brings MRV from South Korea

PT LRT Jakarta has brought a maintenance rail vehicle (MRV) from South Korea in order to support the operation of Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) facilities and maintenance work

This MRV will function to help move or pull the LRT train without electricity supply

It is the first locomotive in Indonesia with the width of train reaching 1,435 mm that is expected to optimize Jakarta LRT operational activities.

LRT Jakarta Project Director, Iwan Takwin stated that MRV that was arrived on Sunday (21/10) at 1 AM will then be taken to the Jalur Simpan located at the mini depot in front of Kelapa Gading Mall, North Jakarta.

LRT Trialled from Velodrome Station towards Kelapa Gading

"This MRV will function to help move or pull the LRT train without electricity supply," he expressed, Monday (10/22).

In its practice, it will be used at the depot to move the train without needing to energize anything or without electricity supply but with diesel.

It can also be used in emergency situations. For instance, if there is damage in the middle of the track, it can pull the train to the depot.

"Basically, it will be used to service eight train sets," he stated.
