Passenger Pulled Emergency Brake, KRL Train Trips Disturbed

Commuter line trips this morning, Friday (8/8), got disturbed after a KRL train route Bogor-Jatinegara suddenly stopped because one of the passengers pulled the emergency brake lever. This incident happened before the KRL enters Pasar Minggu Station, South Jakarta.

PT KAI KCJ Communication Manager, Eva Chairunisa, said the incident started when the KRL was packed with passengers that made the air very hot inside the train.

“The train was full. Since it was Inka-made, the train’s windows cannot be opened. So, the passengers asked for the train doors to be opened. When the train was about to enter Pasar Minggu Station, a passenger saw an emergency brake lever and pulled it,” she told.

According to Chairunisa, the brake that was pulled is in carriage number 7 of KA 1511, or precisely two carriages from behind. As a result, the train had to be pulled over to lane 3 of Pasar Minggu Station, while the passengers were transferred to other carriages.

“This kind of train cannot be run for quite some time because it takes time after the emergency brake was pulled. Unfortunately, we haven’t found the person who pulled the emergency brake. If we did, the person will be sanctioned,” she uttered.

This incident happened at 7.50 AM. At this time, train trips are beginning to run normally again.
