Gang is usually defined in negative connotation. But, not this gang, which formed six months ago and consists of seven young men whose age is under 50 years old.

The members of this particular gang are Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama, West Nusa Tenggara Governor Zainul Majdi, Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya, Makassar Mayor Ramdhan Pomanto, and Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas.

“We’re friends, unite in gang. Dino Patti Jalal who set this up, young people,” said Basuki at City Hall, Thursday (8/14).

According to Basuki, it was Dino Patti Jalal, former Indonesian Ambassador for the United States, who had the initiative to gather them in a discussion. Although they all come from different political parties, such a thing is not an obstacle because they have the same positive visions to build this country.

The discussion was held in Djakarta Theatre XXI Ballroom, Central Jakarta, on March 1, 2014. At that time, they were discussing on their ideas and programs to re-grow people’s optimism on Indonesia’s future.

The meeting did not stop there because their friendship continues. Although living in far distance and only met up several times, their communication does not hinder. Through blackberry messenger (BBM) or whatsapp (WA), they reminded each other on the programs they run.

“The others could be models, reminded each other. We’re texting. If we had the time, we gathered,” told Basuki.
