Jakarta Provincial Government will re-select Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) recipients. This decision is taken after Jakarta Parliament declined additional budget proposal for KJP.
Unfortunately, the budget for KJP is cut. We need Rp 1.3 trillion, but the budget approved is only Rp 700 billion
Although being declined, Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo does not have qualm with it, because he assesses it is DPRD’s right. On the other hand, Jakarta Provincial Government proposed it based on needs.
“Budgeting is like that. We’re only given that much, so be it,” he stated, Friday (8/15).
DPRD Ratified the 2014 APBDP for Rp 72.905 TrillionEarlier, Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama disclosed that KJP actually needs fund as much as Rp 1.3 trillion, but the budget allocated in the 2014 City Budget (APBD) is only Rp 799 billion. Unfortunately, additional budget proposed in the budget amendment (APBDP) is not approved.
“Unfortunately, the budget for KJP is cut. We need Rp 1.3 trillion, but the budget approved is only Rp 700 billion,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Education Department, Lasro Marbun, told that the rejection of additional budget proposal for KJP makes his department had to cut the amount of KJP recipients from initially 573,000 students to only 309,585 students. Thus, verification will be done to determine the students who are truly eligible to receive KJP fund.
“We’ll use the budget we have as optimal as can be,” he asserted.
