Anies Commemorates Mahatma Gandhi's 150th Anniversary

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan along with Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Pradeep Kumar Rawat opened bicycling event themed "Cycling for Nonviolence, Peace and Truth" in commemorating the Mahatma Gandhi's 150th Anniversary at Suropati Park, Wednesday (7/31) morning. 

He is also a person who has been able to echo the free struggle of violence

In his speech, Anies recalled Mahatma Gandhi as a figure who opposed violence and championed independence. He was able to inspire Asian and African countries to escape colonialism.

"He is also a person who has been able to echo the free struggle of violence. He once said, if every eye shall be replaced tears, that makes the whole world blind. This was a very positive message, so we welcome it very well," he expressed as quoted by Jakarta PPID press release.

Anies Targets Public Transport Integration Through Jak Lingko

It purposed to strengthen the relationship between Indonesia with India. Both had very good relationships. "It must be maintained and continued. The founders of both countries, Bung Karno and Bung Hatta were friends of the founders of India," he explained.

As for the information, every participant will cover a distance of about 9.5 kilometers, starting from Suropati Park - Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro - Nahdlatul Ulama Office - Youth Oath Museum - Jalan Angkasa Underpass - Jalan HBR Motik - finish line at the Gandhi Memorial Intercontinental School (GMIS).
