Eradicate Flat Mob, Basuki to Use Thuggery Means

The practice of illegal flat trading has happened since a long time ago and is never finished until now. To resolve this problem, Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama stressed that he will use thuggery means to eradicate and cut the chains of flat mob in the capital city, including by firing civil servants who are proven trading flat units illegally.

I choose thuggery means. Or else, the problem won’t finish

“I choose thuggery means. Or else, the problem won’t finish. I only have three more years to correct Jakarta, which is not a long time, only a while,” he stated, Friday (9/5).

One of the ideas designed by Basuki to eradicate unruly officials who traded flat units is instructing DKI Bank and Jakarta Public Housing and Government’s Buildings Department to issue virtual account cards that must state photos and identities of flat occupants. Thus, the flat units cannot be transferred to other parties and flat occupants cannot simply auto-debit the rent’s monthly payment and retribution through ATM.

Basuki Scolded DKI Bank President Director

“I had showed them (DKI Bank and Jakarta Public Housing and Government’s Buildings Department) the kind of card I wanted. Here, I showcased it (Jakarta Provincial Government’s civil servant identity card), hang it on my shirt every day. Actually, there is no obligation wearing it, but let it be an example. However, it (virtual card) was printed like that (without picture and identity), not like what I wanted to,” he uttered.
