35 Tons of Trashes Collected from Lebaran Betawi

The 2014 Lebaran Betawi event has finished being held in Monas, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (9/13) and Sunday (9/14). From this event, trashes weighted 35 tons consist of food wastes and plastics were collected.

Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Saptastri Ediningtyas Kusumadewi, said she directly deployed janitors to clean the trashes scattered in Monas after the event closed.
“Our janitors cleaned all of the trashes left from the 2014 Lebaran Betawi event. And by this morning at 8 AM, Monas area was already clean. As many as 35 tons of trashes were collected,” she stated, Monday (9/15).
JNF Leaves 150 Tons of TrashesIn the cleaning, Jakarta Cleanliness Department deployed 25 personnel and 8 dump trucks. They started working since Sunday night until Monday morning. As for the trashes collected, all of it was dumped to Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Area (TPST), Bekasi.
About the 2014 Lebaran Betawi itself, the event went lively. Thousands of people from Jakarta and surrounding areas as well as foreign tourists crowded the location which filled with booths decorated in Betawi culture. Besides enjoying free entertainment performed in the main stage, the visitors were also tasting Betawi culinary, such as gubus pacung, dodol, and bir pletok.
