Post-Flood, City Ensures Inundation in Most Regions Have Receded

Rain is still falling until Monday (2/24) morning in several Jakarta regions. Although, most regions that were inundated yesterday are mostly dried by now.

Based on data from Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), it remains 1.28 percent areas inundated in Jakarta by this morning. Yesterday was the peak, where 4.6 percent of all RWs in Jakarta inundated.
Until 7 AM, there were several inundated roads in North Jakarta such as on Jalan Raya Cilincing (Babek TNI) as high as 30-40 centimeters that caused motorcycle couldn't pass the road. The other was inundation as high as 10 centimeters on Jalan Boulevard Barat.

Jakarta BPBD Head, Subejo conveyed, total 35 RWs settlement areas are still inundated. It consists of 26 RWs in North Jakarta and 9 RWs in East Jakarta.
"Floodwater is as high as 10-30 centimeters and 70-100 centimeters. Inundation in North Jakarta is caused by high rainfall. While in East Jakarta is not only because of high rainfall, but also overflowing rivers such as Ciliwung River, Sunter River, and Mati River," he explained as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Monday (2/24).
Although inundation in several areas has been receded, but most residents choose to evacuate while cleaning their houses. Until now, 682 families with total 2,393 residents are evacuating.
There are 20 shelters in North Jakarta, 1 shelter in Central Jakarta, 1 shelter in West Jakarta, and 3 shelters in East Jakarta. While in South Jakarta, there is no one evacuate.
Jakarta Government deployed joint team from Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Department, BPBD, Social Department, Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Department, and PPSU to handle the flood.
Gulkarmat Department has evacuated flood victims to the shelter, while Social Department has distributed aid in form of drinking water, rice, instant noodle, ready meals, mattress, blanket, diapers, and women's sleepwear.
Meanwhile, SDA Department anticipates flood by monitoring and cleaning water channels, checking pumps' condition, and creating infiltration wells (vertical drainage) in several areas.
