Thousand Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency tries to improve capacity of water supply in inhabitant islands by providing Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO).

Thousand Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Abdul Rauf conveyed, SWRO has been built on budget year 2018 - 2019 until early of 2020 in order to improve the clean water production of Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO).

Currently, he continued, 10 of 11 inhabitant islands in Thousand Islands have owned BWRO with different capacity.

Meanwhile, SWRO has been built in several inhabitant islands such as Pramuka Island, Panggang Island, Kelapa Island, Harapan Island, Kelapa Dua Island, Payung Island, Untung Jawa Island, Lancang Island, Tidung Island, and Karya Island.

"SWRO construction in Sebira Island for this year should be postponed until next year because of COVID-19," he asserted, Wednesday (5/13).

According to him, BWRO can operate for 16 hours because of its limited capacity to produce water. While SWRO can operate for 24 hours because it has higher capacity.

"Our personnel regularly check water supply and its quality," he mentioned.
