Jakarta Government commemorated 75th Anniversary of Indonesia Independence Day by holding ceremony at Jakarta City Hall, Monday (8/17).

This year, the ceremony for commemorating Proclamation of August 17, 1945 was held on limited basis (in terms of participants) and was carried out by implementing strict health protocols.
Acting as the ceremonial Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan who acted as ceremony inspector conveyed, Jakarta Government should prioritize public safety and health, especially during COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, commemoration of Indonesia's 75th Independence Day is the a special moment to re-define the nation's founders struggles because now is the chance for all people to re-record the history where the pandemic can be overcome together, as the spirit of nation's founders in seizing and defending the independence.
"Thus we emphasize the discipline of implementing 3M, by wearing mask, washing hands with soap, and maintaining safe distance. We, at Jakarta Government, also continue to intensify 3T implementation, namely Testing, Tracing, and Treatment to curb the COVID-19 spread," he conveyed.
"In the future, when we look back at this moment with our children and grandchildren, we will be able to tell our children and grandchildren proudly that we are part of those who are fighting against the plague, in the capacity and role we are in now," he stated.
He also appreciated the whole society who have struggled together through this pandemic. Thousands officers on the field ensure people who affected by the outbreak to get assistance and ensure public service to continue.
Teachers are also continue to encourage and inspire students from afar.Small medium entrepreneurs also strive to survive in order to continue providing a living to their employees. Scientists work hard to find solution to the outbreak and provide a guidance for policy makers as well as police and military officials to ensure a sense of security, and so on.
"This commemoration becomes the moment where heroism sprung up all around us. At the moment we are witnessing, thousands doctors, nurses, all health workers without hesitation put themselves as the last bastion against the pandemic. Some left their families for good, died in their struggle to safe the others. May Allah accept them in heaven," he mentioned.
