Indonesian Health Volunteers Appreciates City's System in Handling COVID-19

Indonesian Health Volunteers (Rekan) appreciates systematic steps that have been taken by Jakarta Government in dealing with COVID-19 outbreak.

It is the proof that Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan and his subordinates are committed to work hard in handling COVID-19 outbreak in the capital city of Jakarta

Indonesian Rekan Chairperson, Agung Nugroho praised city's fast response in investigating COVID-19 suspected victims when it found COVID-19 reactive person by holding massive PCR test and providing ICU to treat COVID-19 patients.

"It is the proof that Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan and his subordinates are committed to work hard in handling COVID-19 outbreak in the capital city of Jakarta," he asserted, Wednesday (8/12).

He informed that Jakarta Government through Health Agency has conducted 14,000 PCR tests per 1 million population in a week. It exceeds the WHO (World Health Organization) standard which requires each regions to carry out 1,000 test per 1 million population in a week.

Based on data as of August 9, 2020, he added, the proportion of Jakarta's population was only 4 percent of the national population. While proportion for PCR test which conducted in Jakarta reached 45 percent of similar tests nationwide.

"It means Jakarta residents get about 21 times more chances than other regions in Indonesia," he conveyed.

He also appreciated city for its collaboration in coordinating 47 health laboratories at government-owned health laboratories and private hospitals that are able to test up to 1,000 people per day. As well as providing 67 referral hospitals with capacity of 4,556 isolation beds and 659 Intensive Care Units (ICU)s that are ready to treat COVID-19 patients.

"Health facilities in Jakarta are very adequate to treat COVID-19 patients with severe complications," he stated.
