My Homework Still Piling Up, Jokowi Says

It is already two years he has led the capital, Jakarta Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo admitted he still owes to its citizens. Although several issues are unresolved, the solution keeps being conducted gradually and its result will be felt for a long time.

Various programs to solve main problems such as traffic congestion and flooding in the capital are still aggressively conducted by Jokowi-Ahok, such as by dredging and building reservoirs.

"My homework is still a lot and not yet unresolved. One of them is several reservoirs and rivers have not been completed as flood mitigation," he stated, at the City Hall, Wednesday (10/15).

While for the congestion prevention, construction of of mass transportation such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is currently still under construction and will complete in 2017. Then is mass transportation system improvement, like by forming PT Transportasi Jakarta which will manage all transportation modes in the city.

"To resolve congestion, we already begun to construct the MRT, monorail, and light rapid transit since last year," he expressed.

As for the number of pro-people programs where its beneficial can directly be perceived and is deemed successful within two years under leadership of Jokowi-Ahok, namely Jakarta Health Card (KJS) and Jakarta Smart Card (KJP).

Not only that, Jokowi also managed to relocate thousands of people living around the Pluit Reservoir to the flats. By so, its function can be restored as water reservoir.

As a step to provide decent housing for citizens, he also built five towers with a total capacity of about 1,200 units. As planned, through 2015 APBD, other 8 towers with a total capacity of 2,100 units would be made. Among them are 3 towers in KS Tubun, 3 towers in Rawa Buaya, 4 towers in Cakung Barat, etc.

Nevertheless, he was reluctant to assess his own performance, even though he has given a lot of service to Jakarta citizens. He stressed his performance is assessed by people, instead of him. "Just ask Jakarta citizens if you want to know my performance results," he uttered.
