Street Vendors Rampant in West Jakarta Mayor’s Office

Although the officers have aggressively held raid against street vendors in West Jakarta, yet their existence is still rampant in some areas, including in West Jakarta Mayor’s office which located on Jalan Raya Kembangan. Many street vendors there recklessly hawk their wares on the stairs of the building and offer it directly to the employees who are working.

We’ll control them immediately

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, those street vendors offer wares such as bags, belts, newspapers and magazines, clothing, agate, medicines, and even motorcycles and cars which showcased under a stall opened in the location. Inevitably, such condition makes the office looks chaotic. Moreover, many employees shop at work hours.

The street vendors admitted there is no prohibition from security officers to hawk their wares in the office. As a result, their existence is getting rampant every day.

Raided by Satpol PP, Street Vendors Hid Their Goods

Responding on this matter, Head of Public Affairs and Protocol Division for West Jakarta Administration, Haryanto, stressed that only legal vendors are allowed to sell near the office’s exit gate. However, he promised to discipline those illegal street vendors by coordinating with security officers.

“Legal vendors who cooperate with cooperative are the ones selling near the exit gate. Besides them, those are illegal vendors. We’ll control them immediately,” he stated, Friday (10/17).
