Optimizing Meter Parking, Street Vendors on Jalan Sabang will Be Relocated

The existence of street vendors on Jalan Agus Salim (Sabang), Central Jakarta, makes the meter parking application in that location less optimal. Thus, in the future Jakarta Provincial Government will relocate those street vendors to a more proper place so the meter parking there could be more disciplined.

Indeed there are shortfalls (in meter parking implementation) because of the existence of street vendors along Jalan Sabang

“Indeed there are shortfalls (in meter parking implementation) because of the existence of street vendors along Jalan Sabang. So, later we’ll relocate them slowly and built more parks in Jakarta as place to sell for the street vendors,” stated Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall, Wednesday (10/8).

Besides rampant existence of street vendors, Basuki continued, another shortfall in meter parking system is that it still uses coins. Thus, Jakarta Provincial Government will support non-cash payment which is simpler than using coins.

Rp 6 Million, Revenue from Meter Parking on Jalan Sabang

“We want to cooperate with some banks, so the (meter parking) payment can use electronic money (e-money),” said the former regent of East Belitung.

According to Basuki, an auction will be held first before the e-money payment system applied. By using this system, it is expected that the meter parking implementation would be easier.
