On the other hand, Jakarta BPBD Control Section Head, Basuki Rahmat explained, related to earthquake disaster mitigation, his side encourages people to protect their bodies and heads from debris by hiding under tables and running out if it is still possible. While those who live in coastal area must immediately move away from beach to avoid tsunami.
Regarding flood disaster mitigation, his side urged people to immediately turn off electricity in the house when the flood occurred, then evacuate to safer place as soon as possible when the puddles can still be crossed, and stay away from walking near channels to avoid flood currents.
"We continue to educate people at urban village and community levels. We give them information about the dangers of earthquake and floods, and what to do when disaster strikes," he said.
