Public Transport Imposes Stricter Operational Restrictions Ahead of New Year Holidays

It is done to assist the government in stopping the potential for the spread of the COVID-19 transmission in the capital city

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), issued a Decree number 219/2020 on Control of Public Transportation Operational Schedules for Christmas and New Year Holidays.

According to Syafrin Liputo, Head of Jakarta Dishub, the decree was signed on December 17 and would be applied until January 8, 2021.

"It is done to assist the government in stopping the potential for the spread of the COVID-19 transmission in the capital city," he said, when being confirmed, Monday (12/21).

In the decree, the operational times that are regulated starting from Transjakarta, Regular Public Transportation, MRT and LRT. They were set to operate at 5 AM to 8 PM. As for the water transportation was set from 5 AM to 6 PM.

"All supporting facilities, which include inner-city bus terminals, MRT stations, LRT stations, docks/ports, feeders or bus stops, may adjust to the operational timing of this public transportation. Especially for commuter trains from Greater Jakarta, its operation is adjusted to the train operational pattern," he stated.
