East Jakarta KPKP Carries Out Food Inspection in 10 Traditional Markets

East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency checked food supply and price in 10 traditional markets, on Monday (5/10).

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Yuli Absari said, her side would also monitor fresh plant-based food (PSAT) safety in modern markets. It included food safety monitoring in food distributors and butchers.

"Our purpose is to ensure fresh food safety, food availability and stability, prices of 11 staple foods, as well as meat in packages whether it is safe for consumption or not," she said during food inspection at Ujung Menteng Market, Cakung.

So far, she continued, staple food stock is safe enough for Jakarta resident. Although some prices are still fluctuating, but the increase is not too significant.

In this food inspection, her side visited 10 traditional markets, namely Ujung Menteng Market, Pulo Gadung Market, Klender Perumnas Market, Palmeriam Market, Jatinegara Market, Kramat Jati Market, Lokbin Makasar Market, Ciracas Market, Lokbin Munjul Market, and Cijantung Market.

Her side checked staple food commodities, such as premium and medium quality rice, beef, chicken, and eggs.

Then, red chili pepper, curly red chili, large red chili, green bird's eye chili, shallot, garlic, sugar, and cooking oil.

"We also check various types of tofu. Such as yellow tofu, white tofu, brown tofu, and tempe," she said.
