E-ID Card Printing Auhtority Given to Regional Government

Jakarta Provincial Government is about to process e-ID card by itself which previously was handled by Home Affair Ministry and took years in process. It is hoped the administration process of e-ID card could be shortened.
Previously, we only recorded the data without printing the card
Jakarta Head Dept. of Population and Civil Registration, Purba Hutapea, said city administration has authority to record data and print the card.
"Data recording has been ongoing since long time ago, but the citizen could not get the card yet," he said, Wednesday (11/19).

Previously, we only recorded the data without printing the card ," Hutapea added.At this moment, the ministry has issued new policy by giving the process of e-ID card to regional government. It is aimed to ease citizens getting the card.
According to him, the e-ID card budget has been disbursed by the ministry Rp 1.2 billion for five administration areas in Jakarta. In Seribu Island, the budget prepared is Rp 241 million.
"The budget has been auctioned in Goods and Service Procurement Unit (ULP), and has been distributed since last October," Hutapea continued.
About 330,000 people have recorded their data but still waiting the card, while 6.1 million people are already have their card.
