“After Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama stated will give bonus to city’s outstanding athletes, Jakarta KONI immediately held meeting with related parties. It has been decided that the bonus will be given tax-free,” stated Jakarta KONI spokesman, Budi Siswanto, Sunday (11/23).
Previously, during the bonus handout to athletes who won medals in the Asian Games, Asian Paragames, and international multi-event, at City Hall on Thursday (11/20), Daily Head of Jakarta KONI, Edy Widodo, said that the bonus given to athletes is exclude tax.
City Gives Bonus for AthletesHowever, before giving out the bonus symbolically, Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama stated that the bonus should be burdened by Jakarta KONI.
“The tax should not be burdened to the athletes. Jakarta KONI should cover the bonus’ tax, so the athletes would receive the bonus as mentioned,” he asserted.
As reported before, the athletes who won gold medal in the Asian Games XVII Incheon 2014 received bonus as much as Rp 300 million. There are three badminton athletes, namely Greysia Polii, Nitya Krishinda Maheswari, and Hendra Setiawan (men’s double who paired with Muhammad Ahsan/PB Djarum).
Meanwhile, Edi Kusdaryanto, a soft tennis athlete, received bonus as much as Rp 200 million for winning silver medal. For athletes who won bronze medals, there are four. They are Maya Rosa Stefani (soft tennis), Sharon Limansantoso, Novie Phang, and Cheya Cantika (bowling). They received bonus as much as Rp 50 million each.
Jakarta KONI also gives bonus to coaches who have trained the outstanding athletes. Those coaches are Herry Imam Pirngadi, a men's doubles badminton coach, whose athletes won a gold medal. He received bonus as much as Rp 100 million.
Then, the coach of men’s single soft tennis, Ferly Montolalo, received Rp 75 million as bonus after his athlete won a silver medal. While for Gularso Mulyadi and Thomas Tan (soft tennis) whose athletes won bronze medals, they received bonus Rp 50 million each.
Bonus in different amount is also given to three athletes who won medals in the 2014 Asian Paragames Incheon, precisely Rp 100 million for gold medal winner and Rp 50 million for bronze medal winner. As for Dian David Jacobs, table tennis athlete who won gold and silver medals, he received bonus as much as Rp 150 million.
In addition, Komet Akbar, who won a silver medal in men’s double category and a bronze medal in men’s single category, will receive bonus Rp 100 million. And Sella Dwiradayana, a table tennis athlete who won bronze medal, she received Rp 50 million.
Besides that, the athletes who won medals in in single events, such as world championship, Asian championship, or Southeast Asian tournament, also received bonus. There are at least 35 athletes who consist of 3 diving athletes, 17 male-female bridge athletes, 1 wushu athlete, 9 badminton athletes (including Tommy Sugiarto who won bronze medal in the 2014 Copenhagen World Championship), 3 climbing athletes, and 2 table tennis athletes.
