Dinas SDA Bangun SPALD Terpadu di Empat Titik Lokasi

SDA Agency Develops Centralized SPALDs in Four Locations

The Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency has been started developing a Residential Scale Centralized Domestic Wastewater Management System (SPALD-T) in four locations from August to December 2021.

To maintain the quality of groundwater, it is needed to share educational information to every person or business entity

Two locations are in Kembangan Sub-district, West Jakarta, namely land around the Kembangan Utara RPTRA and land in Sentra Primer Barat area.

Then the other two locations are in South Jakarta, precisely land behind the Waru Timbul RPTRA, Kebagusan, Pasar Minggu, and Lenteng Agung Sasana Krida Karang Taruna (SKKT), Jagakarsa.

Wastewater Management Facilities and Infrastructure Development Division Head, Robby Dwi Mariansyah said, the development and high urban activity resulted in an increase in the amount and type of municipal wastewater.

Aside that, the treatment of household waste by means of a septic tank and the undeveloped network of communal wastewater treatment infrastructure in parts of the city led to the accumulation of pollutants which resulted in soil and groundwater contamination.

"To maintain the quality of groundwater, it is needed to share educational information to every person or business entity to manage wastewater resulting from businesses and/or activities, as well as follow up with the development of a SPALD-T for Settlement Scale," he expressed, Thursday (9/23).

He explained, its development consisted of building a waste water treatment plant (IPAL) and a collection and distribution piping system. Wastewater from residents' houses or water channels is channeled through pipes to the IPAL building located on land belongs to the city administration.

"The wastewater is then processed, then it will produce water that meets the standard water quality according to the Environment Minister Regulation number 68/2016 on Domestic Wastewater Quality Standards, making it safer for the environment," he stated.
