200 Joint Personnel Ready to Handle Floods in East Jakarta

This ceremony aims at ensuring that all personnel, infrastructure for flood prevention are ready

As many as 200 joint personnel of East Jakarta administration, Metro Resort Police and Regional Military Command (Kodim) 0505 are ready to mitigate and prevent flooding in the rainy season.

It was marked by a ceremony led by East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar, on Wednesday (9/29). It was also attended by East Jakarta Metro Resort Police Chief, Comr. Pol. Erwin Kurniawan and Military District Command (Dandim) 0505/East Jakarta Cav. Col. Rahyanto Edy Yunianto.

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar said, various aspects were needed in dealing with the rainy season, starting from personnel, facilities and infrastructure to mapping and so forth.

Moreover, his party had made efforts to deal with flooding and inundation. Among these programs were the construction and dredging of reservoirs and embung (artificial lakes), including normalization of connecting channels, rivers, construction of crossing channels to infiltration wells.

"This ceremony aims at ensuring that all personnel, infrastructure for flood prevention are ready. All existing equipment is functioning well," said Anwar.

In the case of disaster handling, he always collaborates with related units for maximal results.

"We also do cross-sectoral coordination in a bid to avoid sectoral ego," he exclaimed.

Dandim 0505/East Jakarta Cav. Col. Rahyanto Edy Yunianto added, he was ready to collaborate with the Jakarta administration in terms of disaster handling, including the problem of flooding.

Moreover, he has a Kodam main unit which has often assisted in flood prevention. Even the facilities and infrastructure had also been prepared from the start.

"We always synergize, elements of the three pillars in flood prevention. when a disaster occurs, we coordinate, collaborate and handle together, either during or after the incident," he stated.
