25 Joint Personnel Deployed to Handle Inundation on Jalan DI Panjaitan

It occurs because of a narrowing in the flow of water going to the Cipinang River in Makassar Sub-district area

As many as 25 joint personnel and one pump car from the Water Resources (SDA) Task Force and the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency were deployed to handle rainwater inundated on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/27).

It occurred due to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and lightning at 3:15 PM. When the rain stopped, the inundation began to recede 15 minutes later.

In the field, the pump car, which was alerted at the location, had not been operated as the water receded quickly when the rain stopped.

Jatinegara Sub-district SDA Task Force Coordinator, Tamrizal said, 20 personnel of SDA Task Force had been alerted at the location. They spread from the front of Patria Park Hotel to Kebon Nanas along one kilometer.

They were seen cleaning gutters in order to smoothen water to flow into the DI Panjaitan Connecting Channel (phb) and Cipinang River. The inundation itself was seen from the front of the Patria Park Hotel to Kebon Nanas as high as about 25-40 centimeters.

"It occurs because of a narrowing in the flow of water going to the Cipinang River in Makassar Sub-district area," he said.

According to him, the personnel were still cleaning the remaining garbage after water receded.

Fire and Rescue Division Head, Gatot Sulaeman said, one unit of quick response plus five personnel also deployed to Jalan DI Panjaitan while it was still raining.

"But we don't operate it, as the water recedes quickly," he concluded.
