PBKL Involves Students to Plant 5,000 Mangrove Seedlings

Center for Marine Cultivation and Conservation (PBKL) under Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency, involved college students from three universities, to plant 5,000 mangrove seedlings on north coast of Tidung Besar Island, Tidung Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands Sub-district, Thousand Islands.

We invite them as a means of education thus they love environment more

PBKL's Sea Conversation Executing Unit Head, Cecep Hermawan said, those students were invited to expand reforestation area on north coast of Tidung Besar Island. There were 30 students from University of Riau, University of Sudirman and University of Udayana.

"We invite them as a means of education thus they love environment more. This is important for protecting coastal areas from abrasion and maintaining ecosystems," he expressed, Friday (1/14).

2,500 Mangrove Seedlings Planted on North Coast of Tidung Island

He explained, mangrove seedlings planted were the result of development or cultivation at Tidung Kecil Island Conservation Center.

"We want to involve more students and communities in this mangrove planting to make Thousand Islands as a tourist destination can also be a means of conservation education," he stated.
