Thousand Islands Receives Plastic Waste Processing Machine

The Thousand Islands Regency, received assistance from PT. Astra International Tbk in form of a plastic waste processing machine (pyrolysis) which was received directly by the Regent, Junaedi.

This machine can recycle plastic waste into useful goods

According to him, plastic waste processing machine was given through collaboration between regency and private sector to reduce plastic waste in Thousand Islands region.

"This machine can recycle plastic waste into useful goods, such as fuel that can be used by fishermen," he said after the pyrolysis machine handover and inauguration events held in Harapan Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands Sub-district, Monday (1/24).

He hoped that there could be another collaborative program on every island to have a plastic waste processing machine.    

"That way, we can reduce plastic waste, reduce the burden of Bantar Gebang facility, and assist Thousand Islands fishermen by providing fuel for their activities," he stated.

Meanwhile, PT. Astra International Tbk's CSR Section Head, Bondan Susilo conveyed that it was the second pyrolysis machine given to Thousand Islands. The previous one had been given to Panggang Island Urban Village.

"It is PT. Astra's CSR program called Kampung Berseri Astra in Thousand Islands as an effort to reduce plastic waste, especially on residential islands," he stated.
