The Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) organizes literacy activities for the First Quarterly Script Concise Family Initiative Activity (IKRA), which aims to support Jakarta as the "City of Literature" which was just designated by UNESCO in 2021.
IKRA makes it easier for families to get quality reading, especially during the pandemic
Dispusip Head, Wahyu Haryadi said it was held again, because of the high enthusiasm of the people and the success of last year's IKRA event.
"Hope the residents' enthusiasm can increase as we are targeting more people by collaborating with sub-district, urban village, and PKK elements all over Jakarta," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (2/3).
Dispusip Success in Organizing IKRA in 2021He explained the IKRA participants would be borrowed a collection of books through the PKK cadres as a collaboration partner in the registration of membership and distribution of reading materials to the participants.
"The books are then read together in the family and summarized by the children accompanied by the parents. Summary and documentation of activities will be published on social media, both in the form of photos and videos," he explained.
He explained the aim was to make reading a “joint movement”, as well as to foster a culture of reading pleasure and to build a literacy culture from an early age.
By so, it could train children's ability to read, tell stories and write, as well as train creativity.
At the end of the event, all participants would receive an e-certificate as an appreciation. The selected participants would be given an appreciation gift from the Dispusip in collaboration with PT Jakarta Propertindo, PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, PT Transport Jakarta, and PD Pasar Jaya.
"IKRA makes it easier for families to get quality reading, especially during the pandemic. Thus, it can be an alternative activity that is useful and fun for the family," he concluded.
