We must prepare the foundation for Jakarta to become a global economic city
This forum is a form of follow-up to the Home Minister's Instruction number 70/2021 which regulates the stages and procedures for the preparation of Regional Development Plans (RPD) and Strategic Plans (Renstra) for Regional Apparatuses for 2023-2026.
It is carried out to absorb suggestions and/or input from regional development stakeholders, including also from DPRD elements. The Governor opened his remarks by explaining the current conditions facing Jakarta, where the Covid-19 pandemic is a challenge that has turned Jakarta into a more resilient city.
BPS: Jakarta's Economy Grows 3.56 Percent"Allow me to describe the current conditions facing Jakarta, where for the past two years we have faced a crisis in the form of a pandemic, where the crisis is an accelerated change. Therefore, we must also respond to it quickly and accurately, and prepare how to design development and management of cities that are more resilient," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's release.
He also conveyed regarding the relocation of the national capital (IKN), where in the future Jakarta will play a role as a global-scale economic-business center. It would have a fundamental impact on how Jakarta operates in terms of administration, authority, and the economy. Hence, there should be planning and management going forward to make Jakarta a global economic city.
"Jakarta is now drawing up steps to 2026. Because the 2023-2026 period is short, we must prepare the foundation for Jakarta to become a global economic city. Not only the economic center of Indonesia but also the center of the global economy," he asserted.
To achieve this vision, he prompted all parties to collaborate in building this city in the future.
"This is the momentum for all of us to compose a vision for Jakarta in the future. Jakarta is common property. So let's collaborate to build this city together," he concluded.
