DTKJ Reports Transportation Fares Integration Survey Results

The Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ) had conducted Transportation Fares Integration Survey on July 25-27, 2021.

The result of this survey has been conveyed at Commission B Working Meeting at Jakarta DPRD

That survey was conducted to understand the characteristics of public transportation users and preferences for integrated transportation fares in Jakarta.

"The result of this survey has been conveyed at Commission B Working Meeting at Jakarta DPRD yesterday," said Adrianus Satrio Adi Nugroho, Commission of DTKJ Law and Public Relation, Thursday (3/24).

The survey resulted that 62.6 percent of 1,523 respondents spent less than Rp 500,000 per month for public transport costs excluding private vehicles, taxis, vehicle rental, and motorcycle taxis.

"Then 25.2 percent of Jakarta residents spend between Rp 500,000 to Rp 1 million per month for public transport cost. While the rest spend more than Rp 1 million," he added.

According to him, it referred to Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) 2021 of Rp 4,416,548, meaning that the highest public transportation cost for Jakarta and Greater Jakarta residents reached 22.64 percent of total income.

Furthermore, the frequency of using public transportation for Jakarta and Greater Jakarta residents one to two times a week reached 38.3 percent.

It was stated that 34.3 percent of people enjoy public transportation five to six times a week and 27.5 percent three to four times a week.

"Thus, the captive public transportation users are 34.3 percent," he mentioned.

The travel characteristics of public transportation users in Jakarta and surrounding areas showed that the largest percentage for the distance traveled was more than 20 kilometers and total time around 30-60 minutes for one trip.

Based on the survey results, 67.6 percent of respondents noted that the total time required to change transportation modes at each transportation mode (stations, terminals, and bus stops) was 5-10 minutes.

"These figures show that there is still a lot of work to be done in improving the transportation integration system in Jakarta," he closed.
