The North Jakarta administration and the Military Naval Command (Kolinlamil) are set to normalize water channels in a bid to mitigate flooding on Kolinlamil land, Jalan Gudang Peluru, Marunda Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta.

Kolinlamil Commander Admiral Erwin S Aldedharma disclosed that the normalization program was a form of the Indonesian military (TNI)'s unity with the people, especially the residents of Marunda Urban Village, which aims to prevent flooding while at the same time creating green open spaces in Marunda area.
"Hope this land can be used for reforestation, food security, and tourism activities for locals," he said, Thursday (3/31).

The collaboration itself includes the construction of channels, agricultural land, reservoirs, and urban agricultural locations collaborating with related agencies such as the Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency, Environment Sub-agency, KPKP Sub-agency, and the Parks and City Forests Sub-agency for land clearing, as well as the deployment of personnel and equipment.

North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim added his party appreciated Kolinlamil for opening the door in the process of building a channel that traverses the TNI AL's asset area which is adjacent to the Tiram and Blencong rivers which is the estuary of several channels in Cilincing and Marunda urban villages to the Marunda sea.
"Good intentions should be done immediately thus the results can be immediately felt by locals. The location can also be used as a fishing tourism location and a flood disaster management exercise involving all stakeholders," he closed.
