Net-Zero Emissions, Jakarta Holds Bilateral Meeting and Signs MoU with BloombergNEF

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan made a bilateral meeting with Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BloombergNEF) CEO John Moore at Bloomberg European Headquarters, London.

The signing of this collaboration is done to manage data and research

In the meeting, the Governor conveyed Jakarta's target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, especially through the policy of sustainable mobility.

"This sustainable mobility policy is done through the development of pedestrians, bicycle tracks, integration of multi-modal public transportation, the target of electrification of 50% of Transjakarta's fleet by 2025, and electrification of all Transjakarta's fleet by 2030, and so forth," he expressed as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Monday (5/16).

Then BloombergNEF as a provider of strategic research is deemed to help direct investment and generate ideas that can help accelerate the transition in Jakarta, and Indonesia in general.

Previously, Transjakarta had also signed an MoU with Bloomberg New Energy (BNEF). The signing was executed by PT Transjakarta President Director M. Yana Aditya and Client Relations Global Head at BloombergNEF Benji Kafri. It was witnessed by the Governor together with Bloomberg Finance CEO John Moore and Social Science Division Transport Studies Unit (TSU) Oxford Head Prof. Timothy J Power.

"The signing of this collaboration is done to manage data and research to support the adaptation of energy transitions in the form of electric buses. It is also one of the efforts made to encourage the transition to a low-carbon economy and the target of achieving net-zero emissions that are being carried out by the Jakarta administration, one of which is through the electrification of Transjakarta buses," expressed PT Transjakarta President Director at the location.

Aside that,m the Governor also became a guest on a Bloomberg TV interview with Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BloombergNEF) Chief Editor Ben Vickers. In the discussion, they discussed sustainable urban mobility. Jakarta in the future will have a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. That was why various policies were necessary, one of which was in the aspect of sustainable urban mobility.
