Gembrong Market Area Designated as Disaster Preparedness Village

The fire-affected settlement in the Gembrong Market area, Jalan Basuki Rahmat, RW 01, Cipinang Besar Utara (CBU) Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, will be designated as a Disaster Preparedness Village in June 2022.

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar said that the settlement with 185 houses burned a week before Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri would be revitalized soon. Additionally, land measurement and mapping had been carried out by the related units.

"It is currently being discussed at the city level. The area is designated as a pilot village in a densely populated area. While the residents are currently evacuating to CBU public hou sing," he explained, Monday (5/30).

By appointing it as a Disaster Preparedness Village, the densely populated area would have complete facilities, such as infiltration wells, children's playgrounds, waste treatment plants (WTP), and so on.
