Collaborating with London, Governor Hopes for Sustainable Transportation Development in Jakarta

To follow up on cooperation in the field of sustainable transport finance, Lord Mayor of London Alderman Vincent Keaveny and his staff visited the Jakarta City Hall today, Monday (6/27). The visit is a reply visit after the Jakarta Governor visited London, England some time ago.
This is done to achieve the target of Jakarta to become a sustainable city with low emission levels
On that occasion, the Governor appreciated and welcomed the visit. Moreover, they brought a delegation of investors who will have the potential to collaborate in the field of sustainable transportation. He said the previous meeting in London was expected to be realized in a bid to realize and speed up Jakarta's transportation development.
"We also invited Jakpro, MRT, Transjakarta, and Bank DKI. This is done to achieve the target of Jakarta to become a sustainable city with low emission levels in the field of public transportation by 2050. We are greatly helped by the role of the British Embassy in Jakarta for this meeting, and we look forward to cooperation in the future." he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Monday (6/27).
Transjakarta Receives Reply Visit from UK Prime Minister's Trade EnvoyIn the previous meeting in London, his party held discussions from various sectors, especially in the banking sector thus the instruments and schemes of cooperation in realizing the transportation needed by Jakarta meet a solution.
"The visit went very well, even the City of London brought several investment banking companies who were invited to partner, especially in the transportation sector. Of course, we need them to run well. And soon there will be a concrete signing of cooperation," he added.
Lord Mayor of London Alderman Vincent Keaveney admitted he was very grateful for the warm welcome in Indonesia. The Jakarta administration has a good plan for a sustainable transportation system, which brings social benefits as well as a good impact on the environment.
"I know there is interest from global investors about how we can help Jakarta with this very interesting program. This is a very pleasant moment to be here and discuss opportunities for cooperation, supporting the Governor's plans for Jakarta and its future transportation system," he explained.
He went on to say that the UK appreciated the efforts of various cities in the world in developing concepts in the field of greening or green energy.
“As the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a center for Islamic finance, Indonesia will become a global investment destination in the future. We stand ready to achieve the capital needed for its green transition and the USD 500 billion infrastructure needs that Indonesia expects," he continued.
British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste Owen Jenkins uttered that London again showed that Indonesia was a priority.
“I'm very pleased to welcome you to Jakarta to discuss how Indonesia can take advantage of London's status as a global financial center to maximize Indonesia's economic growth. Indonesia has huge potential, and support from London will be a win-win for both countries. Several experts that he will meet in this two-day program represent a variety of things that we can do.
