Transportation Observer, Azas Tigor Nainggolan, appreciated the steps taken by Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, to meet the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister to discuss the integration of transportation modes comprehensively.
I appreciate and support Mr. Hartono's quick move, it's right
According to Tigor, this synergy was necessary, as the integration of transportation modes in Jakarta was also related to several state-owned enterprises that manage the commuter line train and the Greater Jakarta (Jabodebek) LRT.
"I appreciate and support Mr. Heru's quick move, it's right. Public transportation is very important to overcome congestion in Jakarta," he expressed, Friday (10/21).
DPRD Chairman Marsudi Observes Two Flood-Prone LocationsHe explained that integration was not only related to the movement of users of public transportation commuter line train, MRT, LRT, Transjakarta, Mikrotrans, and Jabodebek LRT later. But, it also has to do with tariffs or payment schemes that have to be integrated.
"The principle is to facilitate public transportation users. The cost must also be affordable because this will be an incentive for them," he explained.
He continued that no less important is the need to immediately apply rules for parking zones, common parking, Electronic Road Pricing (ERP), and Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE).
Moreover, parking zones need to be implemented with a mechanism that the more in the middle of the city, the more expensive the vehicle parking rates must be. Even, common parking also needs to be implemented to support the policy of no more parking on the road which triggers congestion.
"ERP must be immediately applied as a form of disincentive for private vehicle users. If it is applied, we no longer implement the odd-even traffic policy. It can increase local income," he continued.
He added that it requires seriousness and comprehensive policies in order to overcome congestion in Jakarta.
"I'm ready to help him. Within a year at the latest, I think this can all be realized. Moreover, he has also met the Polda Metro Jaya Chief, one of which discussed efforts to overcome congestion," he stated.
