The North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is seen dredging the water channel on Jalan Pegangsaan Dua, RW 03 Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading. It has been carried out since November 3, 2022 and is targeted to be completed by the end of this month.
Kelapa Gading Sub-agency SDA Executing Unit Head, Citrin Indarwati the water channel on Jalan Pegangsaan Dua has a total length of 2,300 meters and a width of 80 to 100 centimeters. This dredging work is carried out to anticipate inundation in the Kelapa Gading Door 3 traffic light area.
Next Week, Channel Dredging in Kayu Manis CompletedAccording to her, the traffic light area to the Green Hill Apartment is always flooded to a height of more than 15 centimeters when heavy rain occurs.
"After being checked, the channel was strewn by mud, garbage, tree roots, and building debris," she said, Thursday (2/2).
She explained that the stream from the channel on the road connects to the Kelapa Hibrida Connecting Channel and then flows into Betik and Sunter rivers before ending in the sea. As a result, the channel could not accommodate water optimally, thus the water clogged and spilled out into the road.
"It is focused on both sides of the channel, where each has 1,150 meters long. So, the total length of the drainage work is around 2,300 meters," she explained.
Technically, the work was divided into two segments. That was the first segment covering the east side of the 1,150-meter-long channel which started from November 3 to December 16, 2022 and the second segment on the west side has been underway since December 19, 2022, until now.
"We send 12 workers to the location every day. Our completion target of this work is by the end of this February," she asserted.
RT 04/03 Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village Chairman, Parid hoped that the dredging could be maximized and quickly completed for zero inundation.
"Hopefully, it can be finished soon. All this time, if moderate intensity rain occurs for more than 30 minutes, it has caused inundation," he stated.
