Children-Friendly Parks to Color 267 Urban Villages

The city administration plans to build the children-friendly parks in 267 urban villages. Later on, these parks can be used as a gathering forum to develop children's creativity.

By so, the parents can teach their children about many things, including flower planting," said Chairwoman of Jakarta Family Welfare Movement (PKK), Veronica Tan, after the inauguration of the construction of friendly-children park in RW 01, Kembangan Utara Urban Village, Kembangan, West Jakarta, Tuesday (2/17).
Veronica disclosed to realize such plan, her party urged the people to take an active role. "People are also asked to maintain the parks, thus the next generation can enjoy it," she stated.
East Jakarta to Build 9 Children-friendly ParksAccording to her, as the initial stage, besides in Kembangan Utara Urban Village, as many as five parks would be built in some urban villages. They are Cideng, Gandaria, Cililitan, Sungai Bambu and Pulau Untung Jawa.
"The construction will take four months. To maintain the parks, we will form a special committee," she told.
At the same site, West Jakarta Mayor, Anas Effendi disclosed RW 01, Kembanga Utara Urban Village was chosen as a park planting site due to it is categorized as a densely populated area.
"Hopefully, the parks can be useful to the surrounding people," he exclaimed.
He explains there will be a variety of public facilities on such lands as wide as 3,500 square meters. They are sports facilities, meeting rooms, libraries, indoor soccer field, training forum site for PKK and PKK Mart cadres.
"They are the largest parks than other children-friendly parks," he finished.
