Every Sub-District in C. Jakarta Will Have Child-Friendly Park

Central Jakarta Administration is scheduled to expand the space for children's playground in Central Jakarta in an effort to create a child-friendly city. Eventually, every sub-district would have one park.

According to Temy Kenda Putra, Head of Central Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Sub-Department, the local government wants every sub-district must provide the land to be used as a pilot of child-friendly park.

"The whole park will be polished to support the establishment of child-friendly city and there should be children's playground inside the park," he uttered, Sunday (2/8).
He furthered eight sub-disricts are targeted to build the park in the middle of the densely populated area. Besides green open space, it also makes the air fresher. "By so, people can feel comfort, even though living in a crowded environment," he expressed.
Putra exemplified, one park that has been re-designed is Menteng Park. The park is equipped with various facilities such as children's playground with swings and slide with a variety of colors. It can be used to hone the physical and motor abilities of children.
"Its floor was also designed specifically. We give the soft base and slightly chewy on top of stucco, making it safe for children," he said.
As for the information, the green open space in the capital is still 10 percent of the eligibility requirement, that is 30 percent of the land area. Hence, the additional park targeted to build one hectare per year.
