Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono gave a speech at the Provincial Work Conference III (Konkerprov)'s Jakarta Branch Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) for the Service Period XXII 2023 at Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, Friday (5/5).
We need to pay more attention to our students
To hundreds of teachers present, the Acting Governor urged them to continuously pay attention to the development of their students.
There are many methods that he recommends that teachers can apply to students with the aim of monitoring their growth and development.
Jakarta - Bogor Discusses Cooperation in Transportation Sector"In the future, especially in Jakarta, we need to pay more attention to our students, why do we have to support the zoning concept. This is good concept, whether it exists or not, our students will be mixed with different statuses and abilities. That is of course a concern for teachers, the favorite (school) is now not exist anymore," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
He also highlighted the important role of the teacher for the continuity of the teaching and learning process. The existence of the teacher is very important to interact directly and accommodate the needs of their students according to their abilities.
Teachers cannot be replaced by anyone, not even by robots. Because face-to-face meetings, eye contact is very important. With that we can see our students, whether they are healthy or their abilities are the same," he explained.
He also ensured the implementation of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) by students, thus it was effective and right on target. He also asked teachers to provide special sessions to have direct and open conversations with their students every day.
"It's simple, we have KJP, make sure it reaches them. How to do it, spend 5 minutes for each teacher in each class every day calling the students, asking them any stories," he added.
It needs to be carried out to increase openness and minimize misuse of facilities that should be used to support teaching and learning activities.
"The teacher's challenges, including ours, are silent discussions. Hence, I will go around the schools starting Monday. School children bring cell phones right at school, that's what needs to be watched out for. Don't let him see things that have nothing to do with learning," he explained.
Then, he also urged all teachers to increase their capacity in the midst of technological advances, thus the teaching and learning process runs smoothly.
