1,157 Street Vendors in W. Jakarta Use Autodebet

Until early March, there have been 1,157 street vendors (PKL) in West Jakarta used autodebet. By this autodebet, they are required to pay retribution amounted to Rp 4,000 through their accounts.

"1,157 street vendors are spread in 19 temporary shelters. The autodebet for vendors is aimed to simplify retribution payment," said Head of West Jakarta Micro Small Enterprises Cooperation Sub-Department (KUMKMP), Slamet Widodo, West Jakarta, Monday (3/2).

Widodo disclosed, those 19 temporary locations are in seven sub-districts such as 01 Pecah Kulit at Tamansari, 25 Tegal Alur and 18 Tomang. 

"Although many street vendors who have used autodebet, yet we're asking urban village officials to keep recording them who open stalls alongside the sidewalks or public spaces," he expressed.

According him, such collection data aims to review the construction of new shelter. "We could construct new shelters if Jakarta Provincial Government has a land," he said.

Besides that, he continued, his sub-department also applies training for street vendors to follow the rules and more discipline. They are such as stall could not be diverted to other vendors, maintaining cleanliness, evicting unrecorded street vendors, etc.
