Panggang Island to Have Beach Lifeguard

The Seribu Islands Regency administration together with a Team of Consultants from the Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency and National Park Agency are conducting field observations regarding the plan to build a beach lifeguard on Panggang Island, North Seribu Islands.

Seribu Islands Economy and Development Assistant Administration, Iwan P Samosir expressed his party was conducting an inspection of the location a beach lifeguard development on the north side of RW 02 and 03, as well as the south side of Pier T, RW 03, Panggang Island.
"Today, we are conducting a field survey to protect the island from abrasion. In this case, the SDA Sub-agency plans to take countermeasures," he said, Wednesday (5/24).

"We have agreed with RT and RW administrators to stop hoarding activities first. We plan to socialize it to locals regarding the embankment points that will be built in order to avoid pros and cons," he explained.
In addition, the development will enter the review stage. Afterwards, it will proceed to the budgeting stage in early 2024. Once this process is complete, activities will then proceed to construction, which is likely to be completed in 2025.
"We'll keep an eye on this development. Hopefully, it will run smoothly and can be completed soon. This is for the safety of residents as well," he asserted.
Representative from Seribu Islands National Park Office, Agus Setiawan supports the plan to build a beach lifeguard. It was deemed to be effective in stopping the widening of the island while at the same time providing the safety and comfort of residents.
"Together with SDA Sub-agency, we will also enter into a cooperation agreement to accelerate this program," he stated.
