The cooperative relationship between Jakarta Provincial Government and New South Wales Government, which has existed since 1994, resulted in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was renewed in 2022 for the next five years.
"New South Wales is one of the 23 Sister Cities that cooperates with Jakarta in several fields, such as education, tourism, culture, creative economy, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to digital technology," expressed Acting Governor, Heru, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

One of the forms of cooperation that will be done is to improve the competence of the Jakarta Provincial Government's State Civil Apparatus (ASN) through short training in New South Wales.
City Secretary's Cooperation Bureau Head, Marulina Dewi Mutiara explained the long journey of cooperation between Jakarta Government and New South Wales resulted in a symbiosis of mutualism for each city.
"In fact, we have collaborated a lot with (New South Wales), such as training teachers to present their teaching materials, because many teachers now teach virtually. New South Wales has a Canva application whose ownership is from them, they teach for free including the account," she explained.
Jakarta is also a window for New South Wales in developing services for persons with disabilities. In 2018, the New South Wales Government sent experts to study services for persons with disabilities which had been implemented in several Jakarta Regional General hospitals (RSUD).
"In the future, we will strengthen this cooperation. We know that the advantage of New South Wales is it has many well-known universities in the city. There are 11 universities and six of them have world-class numbers (credibility). They will conduct Expo Education, we will socialize it to junior and senior high school friends, thus they know that there may be scholarships and others. The Jakarta Government will also develop this scholarship network for our students," she stated.
