2,100 Cubic Meters of Mud Dredged from Ciliwung Lama River

As many as 2,100 cubic meters of mud were collected from the Ciliwung Lama River, Central Jakarta. Overall dredging progress has now touched 35 percent.

Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Head, Mustajab said the dredging that has been ongoing since 2022 is started from Manggarai Sluice Gate to downstream of the railway tracks on Jalan Gunung Sahari for 12.2 kilometers by deploying eight units of heavy equipment.
"Our dredging is divided into five segments, namely Kwitang segment with two excavators, Pejambon segment with three excavator units, Pasar Baru segment with two units, Jalan Perwira segment with one unit, and Gunung Sahari segment with one excavator," he expressed, Friday (7/14).

"We dredged the mud to 2-2.5 meters deep," he explained.
Hopefully, it could smoothen the flow of water and increase the volume of incoming water which aims to reduce puddles on riverbanks due to water runoff.
"I hope the houses on the banks of the river are not inundated. Locals must protect the environment by not littering to avoid waste deposits that trigger siltation," he stressed.
