Jakarta Applies Parking Locations Disincentive Policy to Tackle Worsening Pollution

To deal with Jakarta's air quality pollution, the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) is implementing disincentive rates at ten parking locations owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government for vehicles that fail or have not undergone an emissions test.

They will be easily detected at ten parking locations via vehicle plates

Pollution Handling Task Force Speaker, Ani Ruspitawati explained the disincentive rate is the payment of the highest parking fee, so it is expected to minimize the use of private vehicles and encourage people to switch to public transportation.

"Based on Gubernatorial Regulation Number 66/2020 on Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emission Testing, every vehicle owner who does not undergo or does not comply with the exhaust gas emission test requirements will be subject to a disincentive rate in the form of payment of the highest tariff. They will be easily detected at ten parking locations via vehicle plates whose data has been integrated with the Environmental Agency," she expressed, in the Jakarta Government's press release, Wednesday (9/6).

City Collaborates with Astra to Hold Customer Vehicle Emission Tests

According to him, the disincentive rate is regulated in Gubernatorial Regulation Number 31/2017 on Parking Service Tariffs. For four-wheeled vehicles, a parking rate of Rp 7,500 per hour applies progressively at each parking location.

Gowever, at the Park and Ride location, four-wheeled vehicles are charged a parking fee by Rp 7,500 per parking or a flat rate applies, except for two-wheeled vehicles.

4. Mayestik Market

5. Kalideres Park and Ride

6. Taman Menteng Building

7. Istana Pasar Baru Building

8. Lebak Bulus Park and Ride

9. Kampung Rambutan Terminal Park and Ride

10. Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM)

"So, we urge all people to immediately undergo emission tests. The test location can be accessed via JAKI application or website https://ujiemisi.jakarta.go.id. This is our joint effort to make Jakarta's sky blue, bright and the air healthy again," she closed.
