Transportation Ministry Ignasius Jonan visited Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta, Monday (3/23). Ignasius Jonan uttered, the vehicle inspection was held to keep passenger's safety, and for buses that are not roadworthy can be re-operated after they fix the problem, including extend their vehicle inspection time.
"We checked 19 buses randomly. We gave note for 10 buses and eight of them should not be operated. The PO company will be invited through Organda (Land Transportation Owners) to immediately fix their shortcomings," explained Ignasius Jonan.
Jakarta Transportation Vice, Pargaulan Butar Butar espressed, the eight buses immediately ticketed. "We have instructed all heads of terminals in capital to check all the buses that will depart. If they are not roadworthy, they should be stopped and ticketed, "Pargaulan Butar Butar stressed.
In addition to hold vehicle inspection, the officers also conduct urine test for the bus crew to find out if they are taking drugs or not. Then check their blood sugar and blood pressure.
From 19 crews, 3 of them are allowed to depart with note because they have high blood pressure due to lack of sleep after a long journey from other town. But, there is no bus crew who tested positive to drink alcohol or use drugs.
The medical examination was conducted by 10 medical personnel consists of two doctors, three nurses, and five administrative officers.
