Ahok: I Want to Create a Region Without Borders

Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Thahaja Purnama revealed that due to megapolitan concept, the city have a big responsibility yet the power remained in the partner regions.

“Megapolitan isn't like the concept in era of Bang Yos (Sutiyoso) by taking any power, surely it caused a conflict. If it is used, our obligation is not like that,” said Ahok, at City Hall, Tuesday (3/13).

Even, this former regent of East Belitung hoped there is no boundary between Jakarta with partner regions, such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi.

Who is take this responsibility? City, the power remain in them (partner regions). This is our megapolitan plan,” he explained.

Ahok added, the city administration gives the grant funds to other cities which is a realization to realize a megapolitan concept. Yet, they firstly filed for a proposal to city government that related to resolve various issues associated with inter-regional. “Like as Tangerang City asked for grant funds by Rp 1.2 trillion for Transjakarta flyover project. It is available, as long as there is Detailed Engineering Design (DED),” he uttered.

He continued a number of inter-regional development that has been running are road widening on Jalan Daan Mogot, normalization, as well as Mookevart River's road inspection, and revitalization of Pondok Cabe Bus Terminal as a replacement for Lebak Bulus.

He acknowledged that most Jakartans who work in the capital currently living in the partner regions. "This is what we want to do, such as the construction of access road and road widening to Bekasi. It must be made well,” he said.

Hence, according to Ahok, the city obligated to provide grant funds to some partner regions that have limited fiscal in the solution of various problems that interrelates partner regions.
