5,731 Times, Fire Socialization Intensified in East Jakarta During 2023

The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) has recorded that as many as 5,731 fire prevention training have been made throughout 2023.

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency Head, Muchtar Zakaria said fire prevention training was provided in theory and practice to minimize the occurrence of fire cases, especially in densely populated residential areas.
"Of 5,731 fire prevention training, 5,666 did not use the City Budget (APBD) funds but from CSR, while 65 other activities use APBD," he explained, Tuesday (1/16).
East Jakarta Intensifies Fire Socialization in 598 LocationsAccording to him, non-budget socialization was held in each Gulkarmat sector in 10 sub-districts. It was done in the form of an appeal to use vehicles around residential areas, schools, community meeting halls, and so forth.
"It includes sticking and distributing stickers warning of the threat of fire. It usually involves elements from local urban villages and sub-districts in each region," he explained.
East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Fire Prevention Section Head, Edi Parwoko added that the formation of volunteer firefighters at the sub-district level was also made. Of 65 existing urban villages, as many as 30 already have volunteer firefighters.
"Each urban village has 30 volunteer firefighters," he expressed.
His party formed building fire safety management (MKKG) to construct multi-story buildings, such as flats, government hospitals, and so on. It aimed at preventing fires by providing direct outreach, education, and fire prevention simulations to the public.
On the other hand, the fire prevention and handling training received a positive response from residents, one of whom was RW 02 Cilangkap Secretary, Misran Arief.
Besides learning theory, he uttered, residents were also prompted to practice putting out fires using portable fire extinguishers (APAR) and wet sacks
"We also invite them to always be aware of the threat of fire which can occur at any time," he closed.
